Today, I am formally introducing the operational framework for my desired début producerial project: Kushiel’s Legacy: The Terminus.
Set some 35 years prior to the events of Kushiel’s Dart within Jacqueline Carey’s legendary universe, this project is being meticulously engineered as a premium, standalone feature film. It is designed to function as a dark, unvarnished mirror to Phèdre and Joscelin’s eventual trajectory—a standalone epic that honors the source material while aggressively expanding the cinematic boundaries of high fantasy.

I chose this specific adaptation as my début producerial project for clear, commercial reasons. Kushiel’s Legacy is a popular cult classic with a fiercely devoted, highly active fanbase stretching across the United States, Europe, Japan, Russia, and right here in Hong Kong. More importantly, the intellectual property is extraordinarily broad and deep, providing the perfect canvas to tell a high-octane story that explicitly highlights Lewis Tan’s elite skill and talent as both a leading man and an action producer.
In this arena, my status as a decades-long fan works to my absolute advantage. I approach this world not as a studio-for-hire looking to exploit a brand, but as a scholar of Carey’s text. Let us be entirely straightforward: there will be no modern, hollow corporate mandates or forced ideological agendas from me. I completely refuse to compromise the text for artificial trends. I will not put a single frame on-screen that is inauthentic, unfaithful, or inaccurate to Ms. Carey’s carefully constructed world.
Adaptations necessitate boundaries, and I welcome them. Having a strict, established lore to work within is a magnificent creative challenge; it acts as a necessary operational guardrail, ensuring I focus on raw execution rather than letting the narrative drift.

I am explicitly targeting Edko Films and Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG) as the two main local studios I want to pitch and collaborate with to anchor the film’s structural backing.

By fusing the deep, globally recognized lore of a Western fantasy epic with the legendary, high-velocity action filmmaking infrastructure of Hong Kong, we are positioning the “Zephyr” brand at the absolute vanguard of international co-productions.
